RESAMA’s researcher, Diogo Andreola Serraglio, delivered a speech on the ‘Impacts of extreme events on human mobility in Latin America: Climate policies and normative strategies’ at the Workshop entitled ‘Rectifying the protection gap for climate refugees: where next?’, held in London last June.

The event took place at the Royal Holloway – University of London and was organised by Professor Simon Behrman (Royal Holloway) and Professor Avidan Kent (University of East Anglia).
The event aimed to assess the outcomes of the Global Compacts and the Task Force on Displacement, to identify their contributions to ongoing attempts to construct better protection mechanisms for those forced to move as a result of the effects of climate change, and to discuss ways of ensuring that these texts are translated into concrete developments in the global policy and governance.
