UN Climate Summit 2014 – Catalyzing Action

– The nomination of the RESAMA´s Representative Erika Pires Ramos to attend the UN Climate Summit on September 2014 in New York was supported by the Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility (The Nansen Initiative, IOM, UNHCR, UNDP, UNU-EHS, ILO, NRC/IDMC, Sciences Po, Refugees International).

Thematic Workshop: What public policies for Environmental Migrants?
Speakers: Carolina de Abreu Batista Claro and Erika Pires Ramos (NEPDA/RESAMA)
The workshop addressed the issue of environmentally displaced persons that although complex, interdisciplinary and multidimensional, is little explored in Brazil. In a didactic and illustrative way it was presented concrete situations of environmental displacement through short documentary, discussion on the topic of Haitians who sought shelter in Brazil after the January 2010 earthquake in Port-au-Prince and environmental migrants in South America.
